1. Read and write about your (your mum’s, your friend’s, etc) hobbies as in the example below.

2. Read and write a few true sentences of what you like and don’t like doing.
I like skiing and cycling. I hate playing football. My favourite leisure time activity is dancing and listening to music. I don't enjoy doing housework. I’m fond of swimming, boating and camping. I’m interested in visiting museums. I’m look forward to travelling during my near vacation.
3.Write out all of the sentences with the gerund form from Task 6 of Lesson 1 (page 8).

4. Fill in the gaps using the gerund or the infinitive.
Mr Brown likes sitting at home and reading the newspapers in the evening (взагалі). Або: Mr Brown likes to sit at home and read the newspapers in the evening (конкретно в цей вечір).
Joan, his wife, enjoys reading novels {enjoy вживається тільки з герундієм).
Natalie likes to go for a walk in the evening (конкретно в цей вечір). Або: Natalie likes going for a walk in the evening.

5. Be a polite person and begin the following commands with ‘Would you mind…?’

6. Answer the questions.
1. I think the film Usual miracle («Звичайне диво») is worth to watch.
2. I enjoy travelling by plane because the kind of transports saves my time and helps me to achieve my destination as fast as possible.
3. When I come home after school I usually change my clothes and have a lunch.
4. I enjoy both going to the theatre and going to the cinema, but my preference depends on repertoire and genre.
5. I rather dislike travelling long distances by train. I’ve never tried but I think it’s boring.
6. I expect to stop studying English when I will speak in it as a native speaker.
7. I think it’s worth visiting Gor’ky park, Ecopark, Shevchenko park and Freedom Square in Kharkiv.
7. Make up one sentence from two. Use the perfect form of the gerund. Explain its use.
1. I am sure of having shown him the letter.
2. I remember having given her the magazine.
3. He is sorry for having been so rude.
4. We are sure of having seen this play.
5. Nobody noticed her having asked me about it.
