1. Write a paragraph about the role of mass media in our life. Consider the items below.
To know what’s happening in the world modern people have different source of news: the radio, TV, newspapers, the Internet etc.
I like surfing some websites which generates news in the Internet. For example, it might be ukr.net. Looking through the list of news gives you possibility to choose the one you will find interesting to open and read more about it. It takes just several minutes.
Another way to hear news is radio, but I prefer to use it for listening to music. I love rock and jazz channels.
Besides we have TV. But, as for me, TV is mainly source of trash today, so I don’t understand people who keep watching it. There are too much advertisements and useless programs which are just kind of wasting your time. My choice is the Internet, which is the best alternative to any other source of information, news, communication, and many other things. Even TV program which I can watch I prefer to find in its Internet version to watch it in the time which would be convenient for me. As far as I mainly ignore TV, it’s clear that I don’t watch the same TV programmes as my parents. I spend my evenings and weekends for some activities. I’m not inspired by the ideas to look like couch potato in front of a TV screen. What do I have to say about newspapers? Actually, when you read the news in the newspaper you can choose the news interesting for you personally and read it in any time. But you should pay for it in spite of that it will become useless trash as soon as you read it. Obviously, TV frees you from necessary to choose and to read. All you need is just hearing effortlessly. But you should have a TV programme guide to switch TV in time.
To sum up, I’m sure both newspapers and TV in their actual form will disappear in the future. But the Internet, which will displace them, rather transform newspapers and TV, which will become virtual the same as the Internet. May be, even computers will disappears in the form as we know it now, but the Internet will not.
