Henry doesn't like Maths because it is boring.
Melinda doesn’t like History because it is boring, lots of reading and writing. She thinks that everything was discovered before them. But Melinda likes Maths and says it is really great.
George likes History, Geography and Maths because they are important for his future profession;

p. 74, ex. 2. Speak about what makes a school subject interesting and what makes it boring.

p. 75, ex. 3. Work in pairs. Give your ideas and discuss the questions.
Illustrations, pictures, posters, schemes and tables are helpful at the lesson because they help to understand the lesson better and make it not so boring.
The classroom should be big, light and comfortable, with a big blackboard and comfortable desks and chairs. The lab and the workshop shouldn’t be very big but there should be equipment for work. It should be equipped to make it a good place to work because we can’t work or study without special things.
There are a lot of advantages in a well-equipped classroom. First of all, lessons are more interesting and you can set some experiments in such a classroom. And I think the use of modern facilities is important not only at our Science lessons but at every lesson, Maths and Literature, Geography and History and so on.

Ілюстрації, малюнки, плакати, схеми та таблиці допомагають на уроці, оскільки допомагають краще зрозуміти урок і зробити його не таким нудним.
Класна кімната має бути великою, легкою та зручною, з великою дошкою та зручними столами та стільцями. Лабораторія та майстерня не повинні бути дуже великими, але для роботи повинно бути обладнання. Він повинен бути обладнаний, щоб зробити його хорошим місцем для роботи, тому що ми не можемо працювати або вчитися без особливих речей.
У добре обладнаному класі є багато переваг. По -перше, уроки цікавіші, і ви можете влаштувати деякі експерименти в такому класі. І я думаю, що використання сучасних засобів є важливим не лише на наших уроках природознавства, а й на кожному уроці, математики та літератури, географії та історії тощо.

Arts and Crafts Room. There are a lot of special tools there because we have our Labor Training lessons there.
Assembly Hall. There are a lot of comfortable chairs there because we usually watch the concerts there.
Canteen. We have comfortable tables and chairs there because we usually have lunch there.
Laboratory. There are a lot of special tools for setting different experiments there because we have our Chemistry lessons there.
Computer Room. We have a lot of modern computers there because we have our computer lessons there.
Library. There are a lot of books there. There are different kinds of books, textbooks and novels there. We can borrow books in the library. Workshop. There are a lot of special tools there because we have our Labor Training lessons there.

Лабораторія. Існує багато спеціальних інструментів для постановки різних експериментів, тому що у нас є уроки хімії.

Бібліотека. Там багато книг. Там є різні види книг, підручників та романів. Ми можемо позичити книги в бібліотеці. Майстерня. Там є багато спеціальних інструментів, тому що у нас є уроки трудового навчання.
p. 75, ex. 5. Work in a group of five. Role-play the situation. Imagine you are taking foreign pupils around your school.
A) This is our Chemistry class. It is a lab which is well-equipped. There are a lot of tables and diagrams on the wall here. They help us to understand the lesson well. When we have class we usually do different experiments and make observations. B) This is our workshop. We usually have our Labor Training lessons here. There is modern equipment in the workshop. When we have our class we are usually taught to use some tools and machines. And we also have practice because we want to get useful skills. C) This is our Assembly Hall. It is big and light. It holds about 200 people. It is decorated with our national symbols. Usually we arrange different concerts and performances here. There is a very good stage here.

А) Це наш клас хімії. Це добре обладнана лабораторія. Тут на стіні багато таблиць і схем. Вони допомагають нам добре зрозуміти урок. Коли ми маємо клас, ми зазвичай проводимо різні експерименти та робимо спостереження. Б) Це наша майстерня. Тут ми зазвичай проводимо уроки трудового навчання. У майстерні є сучасне обладнання. Коли у нас є клас, нас зазвичай вчать користуватися деякими інструментами та машинами. І у нас також є практика, тому що ми хочемо отримати корисні навички. В) Це наша Актова зала. Він великий і легкий. Він вміщує близько 200 осіб. Він прикрашений нашою національною символікою. Зазвичай ми влаштовуємо тут різні концерти та вистави. Тут дуже хороший етап.
p. 76, ex. 6. Read the suggestions made by some boys and girls. Say what each of them suggested, and if you are ‘for’ or ‘against’ these suggestions. Give reasons for your arguments.
I agree that more educational excursions should be arranged because they are very interesting and useful.
I agree that the school should invite a guest speaker every week because we can meet new people and learn more useful information.
I agree that a school orchestra should be formed because boys will be able to spend their free time at school and practise their skills and all the rest will be able to listen to them.
I don’t agree that uniform should be compulsory at school because it is not convenient for everybody.

Я погоджуюся, що слід організовувати більше навчальних екскурсій, оскільки вони дуже цікаві та корисні.
Я погоджуюся, що школа повинна запрошувати запрошеного доповідача щотижня, тому що ми можемо познайомитися з новими людьми та дізнатися більше корисної інформації.
Я погоджуюся, що слід створити шкільний оркестр, тому що хлопчики зможуть проводити вільний час у школі та відпрацьовувати свої навички, а всі інші зможуть їх слухати.
Я не згоден з тим, що уніформа повинна бути обов’язковою в школі, тому що це не всім зручно.
