Listening
1. Read the TV guide and look at the photos. In pairs, discuss how the animals might help people.
1. Guide animals
Some animals might help people who are blind by guiding them safely through streets.
They must be very well trained to avoid obstacles and keep their owner safe.
2. Support animals
Animals like dogs might help people who use wheelchairs, for example by opening doors, bringing objects, or pressing buttons.
They can help people feel more confident and independent.
3. Rescue animals
Certain animals might help the emergency services by finding people who are lost or injured.
They must have a strong sense of smell and good training.
4. Army animals
Animals such as dogs might help the army detect dangerous objects like explosives.
They must be extremely focused and brave.

They talk about dogs, rats and bees.

2. In what other ways can animals improve people's lives?
Animals can help people with disabilities, reduce stress as therapy animals and rescue people in emergencies. Pets also improve mental health by giving companionship.
3. Is it fair to use animals to help us in dangerous situations’ Why / Why not?
It can be fair if animals are well trained and protected and can save lives. However, it may be unfair because animals cannot choose the risks and some tasks are very dangerous.

1. Look at the photo. What do you think is happening?
I think there is some rescue operation in the snow.
2. Listen to someone describing the photo and check your ideas.
Yes, I was right. It is a rescue operation in the mountains. Someone is lost in the mountains and a dog helps to find a person who is stuck under the snow.
3. Read the Prepare to speak box. Then complete the sentences about the photo using words from the box. Listen again and check.
1. The dog is probably a rescue dog.
2. On the left, one person is digging down into the snow.
3. Maybe they're looking for someone.
4. The other person's on the right.
5. He might be the dog's trainer.

I can see people and a fog on the mountain. There is a deep snow around and it is probably very cold. I think they might be a rescue team. Maybe the dog smells someone under the snow and the man on the left is digging down into the snow trying to find an injured person. The man on the right is probably a dog trainer. He is waiting near the dog to give it necessary commands.

Student A:
It looks like the photo was taken on a farm. I can see a man who seems to be a farmer. He's holding an animal - maybe a young goat or a sheep.

Yes, I think you're right. He looks very calm and friendly. The animal might be very young because it's small and he's holding it gently.

Maybe he's checking if it's healthy or feeding it. It looks like he really cares about his animals.
Student B:
I agree. He might be working early in the morning because the light looks soft. It seems like a peaceful moment on the farm.
