Every country has its own traditions for New Year’s Day. Scotland celebrates it with its traditional music. At New Year people look back and look forward to a good future. The Chinese New Year comes between 21 January and 19 February. There are fireworks and parades in the streets. Some people dress up as traditional Chinese dragons and dance in the streets, while others decorate their homes. The Chinese people believe that decorations bring good luck for the New Year.
Кожна країна має свої традиції зустрічі Нового року. Шотландія святкує його традиційною музикою. У Новий рік люди озираються назад і чекають доброго майбутнього. BETSY, 10, Canada My name is Betsy. I am from Canada. My favourite holiday is Thanksgiving Day. We celebrate it on the fourth Thursday in November. Thanksgiving is really a harvest1 festival. But the history of this holiday comes back to 1621 when the Pilgrims, the fi rst settlers2 of America, after the diffi cult winter had a good harvest the next year. The Indians invited them. In Massachusetts the Pilgrims join their Indian friends to each other their festival. These days Americans and Canadians thank God and helped for the good on this day. I think it’s a special holiday for our people.
БЕТСІ, 10 років, Канада Мене звати Бетсі. Я з Канади. Моє улюблене свято - День подяки. Святкуємо його в четвертий четвер листопада. День подяки — це справді свято врожаю1. Але історія цього свята сягає 1621 року, коли пілігрими, перші поселенці2 Америки, після важкої зими зібрали хороший урожай наступного року. Індіанці запросили їх. У Массачусетсі паломники приєднуються до індійських друзів один до одного на своєму фестивалі. У ці дні американці та канадці дякують Богу та допомагають у цей день за добро. Я вважаю, що це особливе свято для нашого народу.
