Remembrance Day is observed throughout Great Britain to commemorate British soldiers, sailors and airmen who lost their lives in the two World Wars. On this day people attend special services in churches and lay wreaths at war memorials and at London's Cenotaph. A two-minute silence is observed. Many people wear red poppies in their button-holes as a symbol of mourning. Artificial poppies are sold in the streets, and the money collected helps war veterans and their families.
